Mental Health Awareness Week 2023

Empower Trust Schools have been busy raising awareness of the importance of mental health and wellbeing during Mental Health Awareness Week (15th – 19th May 2023).

Woodfield Infant School began their week with a Whole School Assembly to highlight the focus on mental health and wellbeing.  The assembly explained what mental health was and how it is important to look after our minds and bodies.  They thought together about things they could do to help and they also used the Mood Monsters to help learning about the word ‘anxiety’.

Across the week each class took part in a ‘chatty run’ with a class from St George’s Junior School.  They talked together, made new friends and enjoyed being active in the sunshine!

In their classes they shared the story ‘The Invisible String’ by Patrice Karst.  They thought about the people they were linked to by their ‘invisible string’.  They drew pictures of themselves and the things they were linked to and they tied a piece of string around their wrists to remind them that they are linked to those they love all the time, even when they are not with them.
